White Wine Steamed Mussels with Tarragon
30 mins prepServes 6
The combination of succulent mussels, aromatic onions, garlic, tarragon, and fragrant white wine creates a flavorful broth that will make your taste buds dance.
Clean the mussels: Rinse the mussels under cold water and scrub them to remove any dirt or debris. Discard any mussels with cracked shells or that do not close when tapped.
Prepare the pot: Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until they become fragrant and translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Add the tarragon.
Steam the mussels: Pour the white wine into the pot and bring it to a gentle boil. Carefully add the cleaned mussels to the pot and season with salt and pepper to taste. Give everything a good stir, then cover the pot with a lid and steam the mussels for about 5-7 minutes or until the shells open up.
Discard unopened mussels: Remove the lid and check the mussels after steaming. Discard any mussels that did not open during the cooking process, as they may be unsafe to eat.
Serve: Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the steamed mussels. Spoon the mussels, along with their flavorful broth, into serving bowls. Serve immediately with lightly toasted baguette slices on the side to soak up the delicious juices.
Enjoy your steamed mussels with a glass of white wine! Budmo!
